“Fostering Innovation” Presentation to Dr Martin Naughton

bottombannerDr Martin Stormont17thJuneNaughton, founder of Glen Dimplex Group was the recipient of a Special Achievement Award for his contribution to Innovation and Business at Parliament Buildings in Belfast on Tuesday 17th June 2014. This successful event was organised and managed by the Core-Vision Ltd events team – Stanley Wallace, Joe McCormack and Bill MacNeill.

The Special Award was presented by Arlene Foster (Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment), Phillip Bain (Regional Chair of The Institute of Consulting/Chartered Management Institute in Northern Ireland) and Gerard Daly {President Institute of Management Consultants & Advisers (Ireland)}.

Dr Martin Naughton founded and built Glen Dimplex into the largest global manufacturer of electrical heating appliances (stoves, electrical fireplaces, space heaters, decorative fires, water heaters), with more than $2 billion in sales. The company’s founder has the philosophy that business has to look to the products of the future to survive – “if you don’t innovate, you’ll evaporate”.

As a result, Glen Dimplex are now the largest manufacturer of heat pumps in Europe, employing over 10 000 people globally and 500 locally.

The event also included themed sessions focusing on Innovation led by Suzanne Hill (on Exporting), Andy Allen (on Career Transition for Veterans) and Feargal McCormack (on Business Development). In addition to the award to Dr Naughton, there were special presentations to South East Regional College and Next Level Impact for the support given to their staff in achieving Chartered Manager and Certified Management Consultant.

After lunch. delegates were given a tour of the Parliament Buildings and saw the Assembly in action with debates in the Main Chamber and Committee meetings in the Senate Chamber.

The Award is jointly sponsored by Institute of Consulting (Northern Ireland) and Institute of Management Consultants & Advisers (Ireland). These professional bodies offer Management Consultants and Business Advisers access to a wide range of resources to support them in their daily business activities and lobby for the adoption of professional business standards across commercial, public and voluntary sectors.
